The third edition of CharaExpo promises to wow fans – with an exciting line-up of stars and artistes – following last year’s record 19,573 attendees across both days! With this year being Bushiroad’s 10th Anniversary, the event hopes to exceed everyone’s expectation through hosting tournaments as well as bringing in favoured Anime content.

Being held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on the 9th and 10th September, this year’s CharaExpo will consist of three main components – The Trading Card Game Arena, the Exhibition Area and the Main Stage.

As usual, Bushiroad hosted a mini press conference in [email protected] to promote their showcase event in the region! Guests Aimi and Aina Aiba were in town – together with CEO Takaaki Kidani – to front the event.

CEO Takaaki Kidani had this to say on what’s new at this year’s event:

“To commemorate our 10th anniversary, this year we are introducing our first ever online animation course by ParentheXis at the expo, where budding anime artists can be certified in Japanese Animation. This will be the third CharaExpo in Singapore, and we want to bring the essence of Japanese sub-cultures to fans in Asia; to give them the opportunity to meet and interact with the content creators behind their favourite animes and manga.”

Below is an excerpt of interview questions held by the emcee for Aimi and Aina Aiba:

Aina Aiba

Q1) Is this your first time visiting Singapore?

Aina: This is my first working trip to Singapore. However, I have previously visited Singapore for as a holiday. As such, I have visited several tourist attractions such as the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands and a few others!

Q2) How are you feeling about guesting your 1st CharaExpo?

Aina: This is my first time in Singapore and I’m thrilled to be a part of such a huge show! It’s because of my work in Cardfight!! Vanguard and Kemono Friends that I can connect with my fans around the world and not only in Japan – through our mutual love of card games, songs and the cute animals!

I’m very touched and excited to have this opportunity to participate in this year’s Charaexpo and at the same time, I’m really excited about the content that CharaExpo is bringing to Singapore! I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!

Aimi: “Hello, Everyone! Nice to meet you!! I’m Aimi! voice actress~ Yeaaaaahh!” (in English)

Emcee: “Her English is perfect! Don’t you think so too?”

Aimi: I’ve been to more countries recently, that’s probably the reason why my English is improving!

Also, in Japan, a mobile rhythm game – Girls Band Party – has been recently released. I really hope that everyone can play it too!

Q1) Any places that you are looking forward to visiting?

Aimi: Even though I have been to Singapore for about 3-4 times, I’ve always been too busy. Hopefully, I would be able to visit Singapore Flyer this time!

Q2) Please introduce the three featured Anime at CharaExpo!

Aimi: In Cardfight!! Vanguard, we feel that we have been growing together with our characters as we have been in this series for a long time. Now, both our characters – Tokoha Anjou and Am – have become more matured as card fighters, as well as being more independent. They have also become better rivals and are fighting for their friendships.

Furthermore, there will be many new characters coming up in the Anime, so, please do tune in!

Note: Aina Aiba voices Tokoha Anjou whereas Aimi voices Am.

Aimi: For Future Card Buddyfight, I really like the Chibi Panda as it’s really cute! As you watch the series, you can learn how the buddies actually grow together, so please do make sure you catch it as well.

Aimi: In BanG Dream!, I’m voicing as Kasumi Toyama – the guitar vocalist of Poppin’Party. It’s an Anime series where the girls in school meet each other through a band. This is a very touching story about friendship and since young, the girls have many trials to overcome. I hope that everyone would like this Anime!

Aina: In Kemono Friends, I’m voicing as Iwatobi Penguin. All the characters are really pretty & cute. Despite it being a cute Anime, you can also learn various things about animals from the Anime.

Here is something that not everyone might know about Kemono Friends: the director, Tatsuki, told me that the series was actually inspired by the Singapore Zoo and is very deeply related to Singapore.

So be sure that you will watch it! Furthermore, the songs are cute-ish. Hopefully, everyone will “Rawr” together with me.
